Forecasting is needed to determine when an event will occur or a need arise. The ability to predict many types of event seems as natural today as will the accurate forecasting of event. The trend in being able to accurately predict more events, will continue providing a better base from which to plan. Statistical concepts and methods are means by which this improvement will occur.
